What makes Slow Burn candles different?
Our candles are 100% pure, locally sourced beeswax, free of synthetic fragrances, dyes, or toxins. We hand-filter our wax for the cleanest burn and commit to meticulous testing of each style to insure you the best burn.
What’s the deal with ‘hugging the edges’?
Hugging the edges means gently pressing the softened walls of the candle towards the flame, allowing it to melt smoothly into the melt pool. It’s like giving your candle a cozy little hug.
How do I participate in the Wax Recycling Program?
Save your candle husks, email us the weight, and we’ll provide a discount code towards your next order. Sustainability never smelled so sweet. For more details visit the Recycling Program page.
Are your candles safe for people with allergies?
Our candles are 100% pure beeswax with cotton wicks—no fragrances, dyes, or chemicals. However, if you’re allergic to bees or beeswax, we recommend you connect with your doctor and use them with caution.
Do your candles really purify the air?
While many say beeswax candles release negative ions, we focus on keeping it real: our candles offer a clean, toxin-free burn without any fancy claims.
What are your shipping rates and delivery times?
We offer calculated shipping rates at checkout based on your location. Processing takes 4-5 business days, and delivery times vary depending on your destination.
What is beeswax, really?
Beeswax is a natural substance made by honey bees as they build their hive. It’s renewable, biodegradable, and requires no additives—just time, care, and a lot of buzzing.
Why choose beeswax over soy or paraffin?
Beeswax is the only wax that doesn’t require chemical processing. It’s naturally non-toxic, soot-free, and burns longer and cleaner than soy or paraffin. Plus, it smells like the hive—sweet, subtle, and grounding.
Do your candles smell like honey?
They do! But only just. Pure beeswax has a faint, warm scent that comes from the nectar and pollen the bees visited—not from anything we added.
Why don’t you use fragrance or essential oils?
We believe in keeping it simple. No added scents means our candles are safer, more versatile, and better for people with sensitivities or allergies.
Is beeswax a sustainable material?
When sourced mindfully (like ours), absolutely. Our wax comes from a family-run apiary that prioritizes bee health, sustainable practices, and local ecosystems. It’s a win for your home and the honey bees.
There's white stuff forming on my candle. What's up?
That’s called bloom, and it’s a sign of pure beeswax. It’s totally natural and can be buffed away with a cloth—or left as is for a soft, vintage look. Learn more here.
Can I burn Slow Burn candles around pregnant women, kids, and pets?
Yes. Our candles are made with 100% pure beeswax and cotton wicks—free from added fragrances, dyes, or chemicals—making them a great choice for homes with sensitive noses, little ones, pregnant mamas, and furry friends. As always, burn safely and never leave a candle unattended.
Do I need a candle holder?
For tapers, yes! Pillars can stand alone on a fire-safe surface. We always recommend placing any candle on a dish or holder to catch melted wax and protect your furniture.
Do beeswax candles burn longer than other candles?
Yes, they do! On average, beeswax candles burn up to 30% longer than soy candles and significantly longer than paraffin. Thanks to beeswax’s high melting point, you get a slower, steadier burn - especially when you follow proper candle care like trimming the wick and allowing a full melt pool.
How can I make my candle last (even) longer?
Trim the wick to ¼", avoid short burns, and hug the edges when the wax pool nears the sides. Treat your candle like a ritual and it’ll reward you with hours of light.
